1. Zappos.com

   If you've never shopped Zappos, you are missing out. I don't know how they do it but they will ship you things FREE and if they don't fit, you return them FREE. It's true, I've done it dozens of times. They even have a 365 day return policy.

   They started as a shoe store (men, women, and children) but also have handbags, jewelry, beauty products, and even sporting goods and housewares.

   Zappos' gift certificates don't expire or lose value, unlike some other shifty company's. The only thing is that I had trouble finding the right page, so here is their send gift email form.

2. Blockbuster.com

   Sign up your pal for this movie subscription service and they'll receive an email notifying them they're ready to go. They can even watch a movie over the Internet immediately!

   Best of all, whether they watch movies online or on DVD, there are no shipping or late fees. I use them and love them.

3. Wall Street Journal

   It's a great paper, not just for business-type people at all. I'm a stay-at-home mom with little to no interest in Wall Street but I started reading my husband's WSJ and now I look forward to it every morning.

   Really any newspaper or magazine that has an online component where you can send the gift via email will work. Just think of their interests, Google that topic + "magazine" and you're on your way.

4. iTunes

   This is a great last minute gift for anyone. There is a way to send a gift via email through iTunes but in my opinion Apple makes it kind of difficult to find.

   If you have iTunes on your computer already, click this to be taken directly to the email gift certificate page. It will launch the iTunes store.

   If that link doesn't work for you, here's the long way:

   

   1. Go to iTunes.com.
   2. If you don't already have iTunes on your computer, click the blue Download Now button.
   3. From there go to the iTunes store.
   4. Look for the "Quick Links" box.
   5. Click "Buy iTunes Gifts".

   From there it's pretty straightforward.

5. Amazon.com

   An oldie (by Internet standards) but a goodie. An email appears in their Inbox with a code they can use to redeem the amount you pay. They may not get their actual gift today but they'll get their gift certificate and be able to start shopping. Whee!

   Also, Amazon has come out with something new on the "instant" front: Downloading Games to your PC. So if you know someone who likes videogames, get them an Amazon.com gift certificate and point them to where they can download videogames instantly.

6. Barnes and Noble

   Barnes & Noble offers a way to send a gift via email: Go to their website and click Gift Cards. In the left margin under "About Gift Cards", click the Online Gift Certificates link.
