Top 5 Great Wedding Gift Ideas
These days most wedding couples register for gifts. They go to a couple stores, pick out what they want, and you can visit the store or go online and select a gift from their list. Easy right?
But sometimes I can't even manage to do that. I get the wedding invitation and think "OK, must remember to go online and get them something." Then a couple weeks go by and suddenly it's the day before the wedding.
Now technically you do have a year to send a gift. And the wedding couple has a year to send you a thank you note. Personally I don't like either of these "traditions". I say, give a gift when the momentum is high, send a note while the gift is fresh in your (and the giver's) mind. So here are my Top 5 Great Wedding Gift Ideas. You can pick up one of these TODAY and be DONE. Now it's their turn to send you that thank you note.  Room Service. If you know where they're honeymooning, call the hotel and arrange to have something sent to their room like champagne or breakfast, compliments of you. - A Photo Album
One of my favorite wedding gifts was a small photo album a friend compiled for us. She brought a camera to our wedding and really concentrated on getting fun, candid shots of people. She  developed them and put them in a little photo album and I tell you, we leaf through that much more than our expensive formal 8x10 photo album. It's easier to carry around and the expressions on our friends' faces seemed more natural, probably because they knew the photographer (her). Plus, she got it to us a few days after our wedding, about 9 months quicker than our professional album! Pick one up at Target or any craft store like Michael's. Or if you want to spend a little more, buy a digital picture frame, also available at Target, and pre-load with the wedding photos. If you're looking for great wedding gift ideas that are also unique, nothing beats that.  Money. It is tres tacky to ask for cash but in this case, not at all tacky to gift it. If you feel funny, personalize it by attaching it to something random and easy to find like their favorite can of soda and attach a note saying, "Use this to buy a year's worth of Diet Coke on us." -
 A Monogrammed Doormat. Hear me out on this one! I like this because it's functional, practical, and personal. Sometimes gifts that fit that description are also kind of sappy, such as engraved wedding invitation holders or throw blankets with the couple's picture on it. Not that there's anything wrong with those. But everyone needs a doormat, and even if they already have one, they probably have more than 1 door. So it still works. It's not something you can pick up at the last minute but you can go to the Williams-Sonoma website right now and order one. Remember to monogram or personalize it with their new last name though, or else it really is kind of a random gift. And make sure they will be sharing the same last name!  Dom Perignon. This is something they might not buy themselves but will most likely appreciate the chance to share a bottle. Dom Perignon is a vintage champagne, meaning that it is only made in the best years, and all grapes used to make the wine were harvested in the same year, as opposed to various years like most champagne. And some say the bubbles are smaller than most champagne.
It's got definite cache and runs about $160 a bottle. You can run into a fine wine store on your way to the wedding and pick this up last minute. Low effort, high impact!
